Cruelty-free products have seen an increase in demand in recent years, and that is something to get excited about. From cosmetics to household cleaners, we now have more options than ever when buying from companies that do not test on animals.

We love to hear from our readers, so we came to you with a poll to get your thoughts on the subject. Of those who responded, 51.3 percent said they exclusively buy cruelty-free products, including cosmetics, hair care, body care (deodorant, lotion, body wash, etc.) and household cleaning products.

A common misconception about cruelty-free companies is that their products are often more expensive than other companies. The reality is that with so many options in the cruelty-free market right now, you can find something great at every price point. With the help of our readers, we rounded up a variety of brands –from drugstore to high-end– that offer great products you can trust to be 100 percent cruelty-free.

Cruelty-Free Brands – Lowest Price Point

[/fusion_title][fusion_text]

Cosmetics

Wet n Wild and e.l.f. are two well-loved makeup brands from the U.S. who have vowed to never test on animals. They can be found in most drugstore makeup aisles (CVS, Walgreens, Walmart, Target) or online for international purchases. Barry M is a fun London-based brand that ships internationally and has been cruelty-free since its founding in 1982. All three of these brands are super affordable with products ringing in at $15 and under.

Hair Care

Alba Botanica is a drugstore brand that offers products for all hair types at around $8. Better yet, their products are all vegetarian. Kiss My Face offers less product variety, but is vegan and priced well at $10 or less. The Body Shop is well known as a cruelty-free company that is very vocal about the cause. Their hair care line is about $15 at its most expensive, but keep an eye out for sales and you might be able to cut that cost nearly in half. The Body Shop made headlines recently when they protested animal testing –with the help of some furry friends– outside the UN headquarters in New York City on Jan. 24.

Body Care

Tom’s of Maine offers all-natural toothpaste, deodorant, body wash and more. You can find Tom’s at drugstores and most grocers for under $10. Not only are they cruelty-free, they are also free of artificial colors, fragrances and preservatives. Alba Botanica and Kiss My Face also offer affordable body care products.

For Your Home

When it comes to household cleaners, finding products that are safe for your pets to be around is just as important as finding products that haven’t been tested on their friends. Method fits the bill for both. They offer all-purpose cleaners, laundry products, bathroom cleaners and kitchen products, all sensibly priced at around $5 per bottle.

Cruelty-Free Brands – Middle Price Point

[/fusion_title][fusion_text]

Cosmetics

Burt’s Bees is famous for their lip balms, but the company released a full makeup line in August 2017. Fans of their skincare line may be interested to try out their makeup as it is all-natural and easy on your skin. The price point for this makeup is a bit higher at around $10 – $20, and it can be bought online or in most drugstores. Pixi is another cruelty-free brand whose makeup formulas are centered around being natural and beneficial to your skin. You can find Pixi for $15 – $30 online or at Target stores. You can also try Pacifica Beauty for both cosmetics and skin care – their products are vegan and cruelty-free and smell amazing! You can find them online and various retail stores including Target.

Hair Care

You can’t write about cruelty-free products and not mention Lush, right? They are a beloved company when it comes to being animal-friendly and all-natural. They offer a shampoo and conditioner for every hair type in both liquid and bar form. Prices range from $10 – $15. Sukin, an Australian brand, offers a great range of natural hair care products for around $15, but can be difficult to find depending on where you live; all of their products are available for purchase on their website.

Body Care

Yes, back to Lush for this one. From your face to your feet, you can find 100 percent natural body care products at Lush for $10 – $30. If you’ve never been to Lush, it’s only fair that we warn you: You may want to buy everything. That said, maybe you’ve tried Lush and it isn’t your thing. The Body Shop offers just as many worthy products at about the same price point, however you’re more likely to find a sale at The Body Shop. Young Living, a Utah-based company, offers a full range of body care products, including toothpaste and deodorant. Their products are very similarly priced at around $10 – $30.

For Your Home

Mrs. Meyer’s Clean Day offers all-purpose cleaners, dish soap and laundry detergent, all of which are pet-friendly, all-natural and free of harsh chemical smells. Mrs. Meyer’s pricing is broad, ranging from $5 to $30 depending on the product and the size.

Cruelty-Free Brands – High-End Price Point

[/fusion_title][fusion_text]

Cosmetics

If you prefer the luxury of high-end makeup, you will be pleased to know that there are plenty of popular high-end brands that are cruelty-free. You can find a helpful up-to-date list over at Cruelty-Free Kitty. Urban Decay and Kat Von D are two fan favorites that both range in price from $20 – $55. If you’re in the market for a smaller high-end brand, check out Thrive Causemetics. Their products offer a natural glow, are 100 percent vegan and have a price point of $20 – $50.

Hair Care

Teadora is a Portland, Oregon-based company with a lot to love. Their products are 100 percent cruelty-free and organic, plus their business is on a mission to replant 1 million trees in the Amazon rainforest. They offer one shampoo and one conditioner which both cost $26.

Body Care

DERMA E is a vegan, GMO-free company that sells mainly skincare products. Their prices range from $15 – $45, and you can find their products at most CVS stores, Sally’s Beauty Supply and ULTA Beauty. In addition to their shampoo and conditioner, Teadora’s website offers all sorts of body care products such as scrubs, toners and moisturizers that cost between $15 – $40.

For Your Home

Okay, it sounds kind of funny to call household cleaners “high-end.” In this case, we’re strictly using the term in reference to the price point of these products. Young Living, the Utah-based company mentioned earlier, carries an all-purpose cleaner for $28.95 and a laundry detergent for $37.83. Both are pet-friendly and created using the company’s own essential oil blends.

We’d love to clue you in on even more cruelty-free companies, but we’d have you here all day if we did! This list is truly just scratching the surface of all that is available when you’re shopping cruelty-free. If you’d like to learn about even more brands, consult the Leaping Bunny Program’s shopping guide. The Leaping Bunny Program certifies companies as cruelty-free, and their logo is something to look for when you’re unsure whether or not a company tests on animals.
